On June 20th, Rainforest Concern director Peter Bennett and Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh Regius Keeper Simon Milne signed an MoU to establish a new research and funding partnership in Latin America.
The collaboration will support environmental education, conservation and habitat restoration and will monitor environmental change whilst helping ecosystems and people to adapt.
Through biodiversity and conservation research, horticultural and species-based research can be developed within Rainforest Concern projects in order to understand and monitor environmental change. The partnership will also focus on practical training in horticulture and in situ plant conservation.
Rainforest Concern will benefit enormously from working with RBG Edinburgh through their wealth of expertise in plant diversity that has developed over three centuries whilst the Botanic Gardens will benefit from research and fieldwork opportunities at the charity's various projects.
