Now in their third year, the Green IT Awards showcase and reward the technology, tools and solutions as well as the companies and organisations that have made a significant contribution to improving the IT industry's environmental performance over the past 12 months. There are 22 categories to choose from, reflecting the depth and scope of this increasingly important topic within the IT industry.
Being the Awards' official charity means that the Green IT Awards' partners and award ceremony guests are encouraged to offset their carbon emissions through Forest Credits.
Commenting on why the Green IT Awards had chosen to make Rainforest Concern the Awards' official charity, event Director Josh Boulton commented: "Transparency was key for us in selecting an organisation that not only offered credible and verified carbon credits through its Forest Credits programme, but also real and local community benefits. The work carried out by Rainforest Concern was something we felt has to support, and we look forward to working with them again this year". He went on to say: "With large areas of irreplaceable rainforest disappearing almost daily, Rainforest Concern see that education plays a huge part in getting industry to understand the challenges and identify solutions - an approach totally in line with our own aims and goals".
