Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary awarded funding

The Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary in the Western Ghats, India, was granted $83,000 in May 2013 for a two year project.

The project will undertake work for the recovery and propagation of highly threatened species at the Sanctuary. The funding will also be used for the protection of the Sanctuary’s land which requires monitoring of species, fencing, patrolling, removal of invasive species and pest management, and for the restoration of degraded land.
