$80,000 for the protection of threatened night monkeys

Entropika has been granted $80,000 for the protection of threatened night monkeys in the Colombian Amazon.  This multi-disciplinary project aims at addressing new threats to biodiversity and long-term survival of indigenous people where anthropogenic and environmental pressures are constantly increasing.

The illegal trade in night monkeys (Aotus spp) for the biomedical research market is decimating wild populations and is drastically affecting their ecosystems.

This community-based project also tackles local conservation issues through the improvement of local livelihoods, waste and water management, and research on the local impact of climate change, while engaging vulnerable groups of indigenous people.
