Forest Credits Programme

Rainforest Concern will be relaunching its Forest Credits Programme in     mid 2010.

The Forest Credits Programme was set up to enable individuals and businesses to acknowledge and address their impact on the environment   by using the unique power of the forest to lock up carbon, whilst also delivering biodiversity and local community benefits.

Our projects

Our Forest Credits projects have been carefully chosen and designed to ensure that a true carbon saving is attained, while also including additional benefits such as biodiversity protection, community participation and sustainable development, all of which give them greater value and permanence. The projects are developed in collaboration with local non-governmental organisations and communities located in ecological hotspots, ensuring effective monitoring and protection; and the main activities are avoided deforestation, rehabilitation of degraded forest and reforestation.

The carbon assessment of the projects is undertaken using a combination of satellite and ground-based measurements (following the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) Good Practice Guidance for Forestry) - currently the only recognised way to achieve the best degree of accuracy to ensure that your carbon offset is credible and real.

If you wish to receive more information about the Programme and our projects please leave your name and contact details below and we will contact you as soon as this is available. Alternatively please contact us on 020 7229 2093 or info@rainforestconcern.org
